Affton School District is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Cassandra Walker Suggs as Assistant Superintendent for the 2025-26 school year. Approved by the Affton Board of Education on Tues., March 4, her appointment brings a seasoned leader with a passion for equity, student success, and innovative educational leadership to the district.
“Dr. Suggs is an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent of Affton Schools. “She has a deep commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments, strategic planning, and professional development. Her experience and expertise will be instrumental in advancing our district’s mission to serve all students effectively.”
With nearly two decades in education, Dr. Suggs currently serves as the Director of Educational Equity & Access for Rockwood School District, where she has led district-wide initiatives in instructional leadership, professional development, and equity-driven decision-making. Previously, she was the principal at Wildwood Middle School, where she transformed school culture, increased academic achievement, and reduced discipline referrals by 80% through restorative practices and student support programs.
Dr. Suggs holds an Executive Juris Doctorate from Purdue University Global Law School, where she graduated with the highest GPA in her class. She also earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, along with additional degrees and certifications in educational policy, curriculum development, and leadership coaching. She is a certified civil rights investigator, mediation specialist, and professional development facilitator, bringing a wealth of knowledge in conflict resolution, strategic planning, and school improvement.

Dr.Suggs and her husband Ron live in the Greater St. Charles area and have four grown sons. She will begin serving as Assistant Superintendent on July 1, 2025.
