Filing for two seats on the Affton School District Board of Education opens on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at 8 a.m. and closes on December 31, 2024, at 5 p.m. The three-year terms of Jordan Levinson and Michael McNeil will expire.
Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
Citizen of the United States.
Have resided in the state
of Missouri for one year preceding the election.
A resident taxpayer of the Affton School District.
24 years of age or older.
Candidates may file in the superintendent's office at 8701 MacKenzie Road between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Dec. 10. The office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, the hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The election will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Under the provisions of Missouri Statute Section 115.124, if the number of candidates who file is the same number of positions to be filled by the election (two), there will be no election. If this is the case, at the April organizational meeting of the Board of Education, the district will swear in those who file.
Elected board members are further required to complete 18.5 hours of orientation and training within one year of their election (RSMo.162.203).
