Important School Calendar Changes

Looking toward Thanksgiving break, we know that many people may be making plans to travel or spend time with close family and friends. These potential exposures outside of our school community put others at risk. To help ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff, and to do our part in trying to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Affton School District will shift to virtual learning for all students in grades K-12 for three days following the Thanksgiving holiday.

Important School Calendar Changes

NEW: Monday, Nov. 30-Wednesday, Dec. 2

  • 100% Distance Learning at Home for all in-person students, Grades K-12.
  • Building principals will share schedule information in a follow-up email.

  • Virtual Academy students will continue learning online from home.
  • Affton High School will share schedule information in a follow-up email.

  • UPDATE 11/28/20: AECC students will return to in-person learning on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020.

These calendar changes are designed to provide members of our school community with additional time to self-isolate and monitor themselves for potential COVID-19 symptoms. Strategically scheduling virtual instruction allows us to create a window after typically high travel times to isolate students and staff at home, and prevent COVID-19 spread in the Affton community.

As a reminder, Affton families and staff are asked to contact the district as soon as possible if they, or someone in their household, think they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are awaiting test results, or test positive for COVID-19.

  • Employees should notify their immediate supervisor and Human Resources.
  •  Families should email to inform the district.
We will continue to keep you informed as we look ahead and evaluate the district calendar as we work to keep our schools and community safe and healthy. Please click here for more information on St. Louis County’s winter holiday and travel guidance.

Please be sure to wash your hands, wear a mask, watch your distance when around others, and stay home if you are feeling sick. Thank you for everything you are doing to support your children and our schools. Please take care of yourself, your family, and your neighbors.
