Affton High School is listed among the top high schools in Missouri and the nation on U.S. News and World Report‘s 2017 Best High Schools ranking. Affton earned a silver medal in this year’s list and was ranked as No. 23 out of 517 high schools in Missouri, placing it in the top 4 percent of high schools in the state. This is the fourth time Affton earned a spot on U.S. News’ Best High Schools list, and the first time to earn a silver medal.

“This recognition is a testament to Affton’s continuous journey toward excellence,” said Dr. Steve Brotherton, superintendent. “The dedication of Affton High School’s staff to ensure that all of our students are prepared for life after leaving our schools is truly commendable.”

U.S. News evaluated more than 28,000 public high schools in the nation, and 146 in Missouri made its rankings. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, graduation rates and college readiness. The college readiness index is based on participation in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which U.S. News says “measures the degree to which students are exposed to and pass some college-level material while in high school.”
