Approximately 1500 children from primary school students through high school are transported to and from school on Affton buses each day. The district owns 17 buses, of which 11 are used for to- and from-school route service each day. The remaining buses are spares, used when regular fleet buses are being held off route for preventative maintenance or repairs, or to cover extracurricular trips at times when the regular bus fleet is engaged in route service.
Each route bus makes four runs taking students to school in the morning, and four runs taking students home from school each afternoon. Generally, each bus serves a middle school run, then a high school run, then a primary school, and then an elementary school run each morning and afternoon. Additional buses are operated for after school activities and athletics.
The Transportation Department staff consists of 10 full time bus drivers, 5 substitute drivers, and 1 mechanic.
