Dr. Chris Daughtry Named Assistant SuperintendentFollowing an extensive search for talent and experience, the Affton School District Board of Education on Tues., Jan. 20, approved the hiring of Dr. Chris Daughtry as Assistant Superintendent for Affton School District for the 2018-2019 school year.

“We are excited to have such recognized talent join the Affton School District team, and are confident that Chris’s established record of instructional leadership and organizational development will be an asset to our district,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, current assistant superintendent. “I am confident his leadership style and personality are a great fit for our schools and community, while he also brings experience and expertise that will add value to all facets of the district.”

Daughtry’s considerable experience in school administration includes his role as superintendent at Elwood Community School Corporation in Elwood, In., since 2016, and as superintendent in Albion, In., for five years prior. He also has four years experience as a Director of Transportation for a school district serving 12,000 students, and as an elementary school administrator.

“I am really excited about becoming a member of the Affton family. I am so impressed with the opportunities that Affton provides students, while still providing the smaller, caring environment that I want for my own children,” said Daughtry. “I am looking forward to collaborating with the Affton team to continue to provide students with an educational environment that prepares them to be the leaders of tomorrow.”

In addition to his administrative experience, Daughtry taught third-grade for four years. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve as a medic for eight years. He earned a bachelor of arts in education from Purdue University, a master of arts in education and a specialist degree in educational leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University, as well as a doctorate in educational leadership from Oakland City University in Oakland City, In.

Dr. Daughtry and his wife, Sarah, a librarian at the Hamilton East Public Library in Noblesville, In., currently live in Elwood, In. They have four school-aged daughters, Caroline, Chloe, Anna, and Amelia.

Daughtry will begin serving as Assistant Superintendent on July 1. Also effective July 1, Dr. Travis Bracht, current assistant superintendent, will begin serving as the Superintendent for Affton School District following the retirement of Dr. Steve Brotherton at the end of the current school year.
