With the recent resignation of Larry Knox, Affton School District is now looking for interested community members to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Education.
“We are looking for someone who understands the importance of this position in continuing to move our district toward excellence,” said Board President Tom Bellavia. “The ideal candidate will be able to invest the considerable time and energy required to understand the complexities of our district and provide a voice in policies that will ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to succeed as confident and capable citizens.”
Applicants should submit a letter describing their personal background and a statement explaining why they want to serve on the board. The letter should be submitted to Affton Board of Education Secretary Linda McCaskie, Affton School District, 8701 Mackenzie Road, Affton, MO 63123. They may also be e-mailed to email@example.com.
Applications from qualified individuals who are a resident taxpayer of the Affton School District, are at least 24 years of age, and a citizen of the United States will be accepted until 5 p.m. on April 18, 2017.

It is the board’s goal to select a candidate for appointment to the Board of Education by May 2, 2017. The appointment will expire in April 2018, at which time there will be an election to fill the position.
