Lauren Knoll Named Director of Early Learning

Following an extensive search for talent and experience, the Affton School District Board of Education on Tues., April 4, approved the hiring of Lauren Knoll as Director of Early Learning for Affton Early Childhood and Parents As Teachers for the 2017-2018 school year.

“With such dynamic and diverse experience, we are confident that Lauren will bring a new level of excellence to Affton Early Childhood and Parents As Teachers,” said Dr. Steve Brotherton, superintendent. “We are excited to see the innovation and positive growth to come under Lauren’s guidance.”

Knoll’s considerable experience in school administration includes her role as principal at Potosi Elementary School in Potosi, Mo., since 2007, and as an elementary principal in Moberly and Marshall, Mo., for two years prior. She also has nine years experience as a Parents As Teachers coordinator and parent educator.

“I am excited to be joining the Affton team and to begin working collaboratively on new experiences and challenges that will guide our students in their growth and learning,” said Knoll. “Affton is an innovative school district with an excellent reputation. I look forward to working together with the Affton Early Childhood and PAT faculty and students to achieve student and family success.”

In addition to her administrative experience, Knoll taught second- and third-grade for five years. She earned a bachelor of science in elementary education from Central Methodist University, a master of arts in elementary administration at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, as well as a specialist degree in school administration from William Woods University in Fulton, Mo.

Knoll and her husband, Shane, an investigator for American Family Insurance, live in the Festus area. They have four children, Lance, Cody, Kayla and Kollin.

Knoll will begin serving as Director of Early Learning on July 1. She replaces Linda Lenzen, who announced her retirement as Parents As Teachers Coordinator earlier this year. Also effective July 1, Karin Fleming, current director at Affton Early Childhood, will begin serving as the Area Coordinator for Special School District.
