AfftonBoysVB - State OfficialWith an undefeated season, this marks only the second state championship title for an Affton team with the 1985 Girls Basketball team holding the distinction prior.

The school celebrated the team’s accomplishment at an assembly and pep rally on Tuesday, May 24.

“A lot of people would describe this as the perfect season with a record of 35-0-1,” said Coach Brian Boehm. “I couldn’t have written a better script if I tried.”

Boehm, with 13 seasons under his belt, gives the credit to his team for their achievement.

“I feel the year 2016 represents our success this season,” adds J.L. 16-AHSVB-1Harman, a senior setter and outside hitter. “The two stands for two excellent coaches (Boehm and assistant coach Jimmy Stika), the zero for zero losses, the one for number one in the state, and then six for six great players always on the court.”

The varsity team included seniors  Chris Brendel, Nick Brown, J.L. Harman, Joe Scally and Jack Stark; juniors Blake Hoffman, Amer Saric, Justin Talley and Trent Thornton; and sophomore Carl Cousin.
