Occupation: I am a proud Firefighter Paramedic with the Affton Fire Protection District. I began as a volunteer for Affton in 2003, and in 2005 became a fully employed member. Currently I hold the title of Engineer. I was promoted to this position about 3 years ago.
Years you have lived in the district: 9 years
Do you have any children or other family members in the district?
I have 3 beautiful children. My oldest, Madison, is 11 years old, and attends Rogers Middle School. My middle child, Sophia, is 9 years old, and attends Gotsch Intermediate School. My youngest, Joseph, is 7 years old, and attends Mesnier Primary School.
What are your goals or areas of focus as a board member?
I was raised by a teacher of 30 plus years and a School Nurse of 15 plus years. My parents instilled in me the importance of a quality education. I am looking to continue that priority with a position on the Affton School Board. The progress set forth by the current Board is very progressive and emphasizes the importance of our children. I am raising my children by those standards. If elected, I look to join the amazing team of Board Members and vow to continue their progress by assisting their advancement.
What previous involvement or volunteer work do you have with the Affton School District that qualifies you to run for the Board of Education?
With my schedule as a Firefighter Paramedic, I was unable to volunteer with outside programs. I enjoy volunteering my time with each of my kids classroom activities. I have been present, both as a parent and as a Firefighter, for the Mesnier 1st grade walk to the firehouse for many years. One of my most favorite activities has been the Mesnier Hero Parade that I have been a part of since it began. I look forward to floor hockey games with my son’s team at Rogers on Saturdays, Flag football games with the Affton Flag Football program, and watching my daughter dance with the Rogers Dance team. I even had the opportunity to watch my other daughter’s accomplishments at Camp Invention this past summer. With the knowledge, first hand, of the progress of our School District from the activities and accomplishments of my kids, I look to offer a new perspective to our current board whose children have either graduated or are graduating. I can’t say enough good things about our School Board, other than thank you.
