This school year we will once again be recognizing one Affton student each month for the things that make them Affton Strong, both in and out of school. Our Affton Strong Student of the Month for January is:
Ava Cacioppo – Mesnier Primary School
Ava is a second-grader at Mesnier Primary School and is proud to be Affton Strong! “Ava Cacioppo is an everyday hero. She has a positive attitude toward school, kindness toward peers, and exemplary work in her academics,” said Monica Wickey, her second-grade teacher. “She is a responsible, dependable, and conscientious student whose behavior is an example to all students. For example, Ava stepped up to take on more responsibility when we were short a person for our reader’s theater. She takes great pride in her work, and listens carefully to lessons and applies what she learns to her independent work. Ava is an insightful student who thinks deeply about everyday life situations.”
Parent: Malissa Murnan
Siblings: Collin (8th grade), Devin (19 years old)
What do you like best about Mesnier Primary School? I have a nice teacher. Ms. Wickey is always funny and is always helping people a lot.
What is your favorite subject? Math, because I like learning new things and I think it’s a really fun subject. I really like numbers.
What is something you’ve learned lately? I learned how to regroup in math. If you get over 10, then you have to regroup.
Who is your favorite teacher you’ve ever had? Mrs. Moore (kindergarten teacher), because she’s funny and really nice. She did fun activities, too.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A veterinarian, because I love animals. I especially love guinea pigs, hamsters and cats because they’re cute and they’re fun to play with. I love all animals, and especially the ones you get to pet and run around with. Fish are not my favorite because they just swim around and you only get to watch.
What do you like to do for extracurricular activities or outside of school? I usually play with my friends, and we practice gymnastics. We practice roundoffs and back handsprings.
If you could meet anyone famous, who would you want to meet? PopularMMOs (on YouTube), because they’re funny and I like watching their Minecraft videos. I like to play Minecraft.
What has been your proudest moment? When instead of getting presents, I asked people to give me donations for Stray Rescue. That made me happy because I wasn’t sure they had enough money to take care of all the dogs and cats and animals they have there.
What do you want people to know about Affton Schools? All the teachers are really great, they help people and they’re not mean.
