This school year we will be recognizing one Affton student each month for the things that make them Affton Strong, both in and out of school. Our Affton Strong Student of the Month for January is:
Jasmine Sandoval-Garcia – Mesnier Primary
Jasmine is a second grade student at Mesnier Primary and is proud to be Affton Strong! Says her teacher, Bonnie Rowan, “Jasmine is the perfect role model for all that our school and community try to instill in our youth. She always comes to class with a smile on her face and willing to work. She will help anyone out and gets along great with any student or teacher. Jasmine is my ‘go-to’ student when it comes to helping me run errands in school. She is a very modest girl – she gets a little shy when a compliment is given to her. But her twinkly smile lets me know she is proud of herself too. While giving Jasmine praise for her outstanding behavior I also have to give a pat on the back to her parents. Jasmine has learned to present her best foot forward because of the role models she is surrounded with everyday at home. Developing an Affton Strong Student starts at home and continues throughout all of the wonderful people that she has encountered so far. Jasmine, her family, friends and past teachers should not be surprised by this reward. Her actions everyday show what being responsible, respectful, cooperative, positive and peaceful really mean.”
Parents: Jose Sandoval & Dora Garcia
Sibling(s): Jose (fifth grade at Gostch Intermediate) & Jimmy (third grade at Gotsch Intermediate)
What do you like best about Mesnier Primary? I like Mesnier because people are always nice to me.
What is your favorite subject? Science, because we get to see if something is true or not.
What is something you’ve learned lately? In math, once you get up to big numbers, you get good grades, like an A+ or B+.
Who is your favorite teacher that you’ve ever had? This is hard. But I think Mrs. Scheurer (Kindergarten) because she’s really funny!
What do you want to be when you grow up? I’m thinking a teacher, because I like to be funny like Mrs. Scheurer.
What do you like to do outside of school? I like to play school with my little cousins.
If you could meet someone famous, who would you want to meet? Taylor Swift, because she’s not gross like Lady Gaga.
What has been your proudest moment? Coming to school for the first time in Kindergarten and not crying.
What makes us Affton Strong? Affton teaches you a lot and you can always learn more.
