Mother: Kerina Awuor
Have you always been an Affton Schools student? No, my mom and I moved here from Nairobi, Kenya, when I was in third grade.
What is your favorite subject? I have two. I like Orchestra; I’ve played viola since the fourth grade. And I really like Math.
What is something you’ve learned lately? Adding fractions with variables. And in Social Studies, we just started doing a project on Native American culture. I’m studying the Osage.
What do you like to do for extracurricular activities or outside of school? I play basketball, and I serve on the Fuel Up to Play 60 committee at RMS. I’m also a national ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60.
Who is your favorite teacher that you’ve ever had? Mrs. Beyer, my fifth grade teacher (at Gotsch Intermediate), because she’s a teacher that I can trust and can tell her anything. She’ll support me and help me get through whatever I’m facing.
What do you want to be when you grow up? An accountant because I love anything that has to do with math. Plus, my aunt is an accountant and I can learn from her.
If you could meet someone famous, who would you want to meet? Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. He’s my favorite football player because right after he gets a touchdown, he does the State Farm Discount Double Check dance during the game. I’m a huge football fan!
What has been your proudest moment? Coming to Affton in third grade. I started over with a new life, with new people who are really friendly.
