Student competed in the St. Louis Community College Project Lead the Way competition on Friday, February 3 and won 1st place in the Design & Presentation. Team members were Nicole Wagoner, Pamela Petterchak, Lori Eckhardt, Sam Krakowski, and Curtis Dawkins.
The challenge was to design an array of solar panels, with maximum surface area while keeping cost at a minimum along with some other parameters. The materials costs various amounts, so the design had a lot to do with the efficiency of the overall end product. In one of the pictures the judge is measuring for surface area, which would be to calculate the over all cost per square centimeter.
