On March 15-17, twenty two students represented Affton at the DECA State Career Development Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks. They dedicated many hours to projects and presentations in the areas of business and marketing. The following students earned trophies and will have the opportunity to represent Affton at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fl. from April 24th-April 29th:
Olivia Owens and Carson Talley: 2nd place, Advertising Campaign
Edina Dzafic: 2nd place, Leadership Delegate
The following students were also called to stage and received medallions for being finalists, but did not qualify for Internationals:
James Sykes, Jordan Thomure: Top 8, Community Service Project
Adisa Hidic: Top 8, Sports and Entertainment Research
Olivia Owens also won the Altrup Scholarship for leadership, academic performance and dedication to DECA. This is a $1000 scholarship and she is the first ever to win this award.
